How our desk pads are built
The construction is what separates a desk pad that works from one that falls apart, so it's worth understanding.
Our desk pads are glued along the top edge to hold the single sheets together, then mounted on a 750mic piece of greyboard. That greyboard backing does two jobs: it gives the pad enough rigidity to write on without a desk mat underneath, and it holds the pad steady so each sheet tears away cleanly when you're done with it. Perfect for writing on and tearing off — start a fresh week of projects, and easily discard anything sensitive rather than leaving it floating around the office.
At 25 sheets per pad, it's sized to last: roughly half a year of weekly planning, or a couple of months of daily use, before it needs replacing — which is a long time for your branding to sit on someone's desk.
Choosing your stock: 90gsm, 120gsm or 170gsm
All three of our desk pad stocks are uncoated, and that's deliberate. Uncoated paper has a natural, slightly textured surface that takes pen and pencil cleanly — ink absorbs rather than sitting on top, so it doesn't smudge under a hand or bead up the way it does on a coated sheet. For a product designed to be written on, uncoated isn't a compromise; it's the right choice.
The weight is where you choose:
| Stock | Feel | Best for |
| 90gsm Uncoated | Light and economical | High-volume use, everyday note-taking, best value per pad |
| 120gsm Uncoated | A noticeable step up in substance | The all-round choice — feels quality, still tears easily |
| 170gsm Uncoated | Substantial and premium | Client-facing desks, executive pads, a heavyweight feel |
A production tip from us: heavier stock feels more premium, but there's a trade-off worth knowing — the heavier the sheet, the more substantial the pad feels, and the more presence your branding has on the desk. If the pad is a giveaway for a client or a prospect, 170gsm makes the better impression. If it's for internal team planning where sheets get used and torn daily, 120gsm hits the sweet spot between feel and value.
Why branded desk pads work as marketing
Most promotional print has a short life. A desk pad has an unusually long one — and that's the whole point.
A branded A2 & A3 desk pad sits in the middle of someone's workspace, in their eyeline every single working day, for as long as the pad lasts. Every time they plan a week, take a call note or jot a reminder, your logo is right there. It's not interruptive advertising; it's a genuinely useful object that happens to carry your brand. That's a rare combination, and it's why desk pads work so well as client gifts, onboarding kit and internal team branding.
- Client and prospect gifts — a useful desk item that keeps you visible far longer than a mug or a pen.
- Team and office branding — consistent, branded planning across a whole department.
- New-starter and onboarding packs — a practical welcome item that reinforces the brand.
- Events and conferences — a giveaway attendees actually take back to their desk.
Who orders custom desk pads?
- Agencies and consultancies — branded planning pads for teams and client gifts.
- Offices and corporate teams — weekly planners, to-do layouts and meeting note pads.
- Recruiters and account managers — pads that keep their brand on a client's desk.
- Schools, colleges and universities — departmental planners and staff pads.
- Studios and creative teams — sketch and layout pads with the studio's branding.
- Financial and professional services — premium desk pads for client-facing offices.
If your customer sits at a desk, a desk pad is one of the few branded items they'll genuinely use rather than put in a drawer.
Designing an A2 & A3 desk pad people actually use
A desk pad only earns its place if the layout works. A few pointers from producing them:
- Leave room to write. The temptation is to fill the space with design — resist it. The pad's job is to be written on, so keep branding to the edges and leave the middle open.
- Think about the layout. Weekly grids, to-do columns, meeting note templates and priority boxes all work well. Design for how the team actually plans.
- Keep branding proportionate. A logo at the top and a subtle footer is enough. An oversized logo eats into the planning area people need.
- Use the back. These print double sided — so you can offer a second layout (a weekly planner one side, a blank or gridded note page the other).
- Mind the safe zone. Keep key content 3mm inside the trim, and remember the top edge is glued and bound — don't put anything critical right at the top.
Getting your artwork right for desk pad printing
Supply your artwork as a print-ready PDF to these specifications:
- 3mm bleed all round — extend your background to the bleed so there are no white edges after trimming.
- 3mm safe zone — keep text and key content 3mm inside the trim.
- 300 dpi minimum resolution.
- CMYK colour.
- Fonts outlined or embedded.
- Supply both sides — desk pads print double sided.
Not sure your file's right? Upload it and we'll check it before printing.
Before we print: every desk pad is checked
Before your desk pads go to press, our production team checks your file for resolution, 3mm bleed, safe margins and CMYK colour — plus that nothing important sits where the top edge is glued and bound.
The issue we see most on desk pads is a design that leaves no room to write. It looks great as a PDF, but the moment someone puts a pen to it, there's nowhere to go. We'll flag it if we spot it — a desk pad that can't be written on defeats the point.
How to order your A2 & A3 desk pads

Frequently asked questions
What size are your desk pads?
Our desk pads are A2 & A3 — a generous planning surface that fits comfortably in front of a keyboard and gives room for a weekly grid, a to-do list and notes in one place. Each pad has 25 tear-off sheets mounted on a rigid 750mic greyboard backing.
How many sheets are in a desk pad?
Each desk pad has 25 sheets, glued at the top edge and mounted on greyboard. That's roughly half a year of weekly planning or a couple of months of daily use — a long time for your branding to sit on someone's desk before the pad needs replacing.
What stock should I choose for a desk pad?
All three options are uncoated, which is what makes them writeable — ink absorbs cleanly rather than smudging. Choose 90gsm for economy and high-volume use, 120gsm as the quality all-rounder, or 170gsm for a substantial, premium feel that suits client-facing desks and executive pads.
How much does A2 & A3 desk pad printing cost?
Our A2 & A3 desk pads start from £103.68 (excluding VAT) for a run of 10 pads — that's 10 pads of 25 sheets each. The per-pad price improves as quantity increases, and the final price depends on your chosen stock. Order in volume for team-wide or client-gift runs.
Are the sheets easy to tear off?
Yes. The sheets are glued along the top edge and mounted on a 750mic greyboard backing, which holds the pad steady so each sheet lifts away cleanly. It's designed for writing on and tearing off — ideal for starting a fresh week or discarding sensitive notes.
Can desk pads be printed on both sides?
Yes — our desk pads print double sided as standard. That lets you offer two layouts: a weekly planner on one side and a blank, lined or gridded note page on the other, so the pad works for both structured planning and quick notes.
Do branded desk pads work as a promotional item?
Very well. Unlike most promotional print, a desk pad sits in someone's eyeline every working day for the life of the pad — with your branding on every sheet. It's genuinely useful, which is why it gets used rather than binned, making it a strong client gift and onboarding item.
How quickly can you print desk pads?
Choose 1 working day for a fast turnaround, or 3–4 working days for the best price. These are production times and don't include delivery. Supplying print-ready PDF artwork keeps things moving, and we check every file before printing.
What artwork do you need for desk pad printing?
Supply a print-ready PDF, CMYK, 300 dpi minimum, with 3mm bleed all round and a 3mm safe zone, fonts outlined or embedded, and both sides supplied. Leave room in the middle to write, and keep key content away from the glued top edge. We check every file before printing.
Do you print custom desk pads in London and across the UK?
Yes. We're a commercial printer based in Croydon, South London, printing branded desk pads for teams and businesses across London and delivering UK-wide. Order online, upload your artwork, and we'll print, glue, mount and dispatch your pads.
